Migrating from subversion to git
I recently decided to migrate from subversion to git for all my code work. This came about for a number of reasons, but one of the main reasons was I was tired of managing a subversion repository for a project, and then try to migrate that code into my github account. Using git-svn was a possibility, but I decided it would be easiest to go 100% git.
After a quick Google search to ensure that it...

We are in Pai now, where we will hang out for a few days before making our way back to Bangkok. There is light at the end of the traveling tunnel, but I’m not sure we are ready to go.

Leaving Laos
So we are down to the last few hours in Laos; we have a night bus leaving for Thailand in 6 hours. The last few weeks have moved quite quickly, so we’re not sure if we’re ready to leave Laos.
After cycling to Vientiane we spent a few nights relaxing before bussing to the backpacker town of Vang Vieng. Vang Vieng is packed with backpackers who tube down the river, drink, and chill out...

In Pakse, Laos - Google Map updated
Quick update as we steal some wifi from a coffee shop here. We’ve updated Google Maps to have our latest location, and we’ll have another update/video in a few days.

Arrived in Seap Reap
So after four days of cycling we have arrived in Seam Reap … not much to say, it’s kind of like Las Vegas meets rural Cambodia. A little weird if nothing else.
Last night we ran out of places to stay so we rolled up to “Happy Night” which LOOKED a bit like a hotel, but the flustered manager quickly explained to us, in rather good english, that “Happy Night” was...

Leaving Vietnam (and arrived in Saigon I guess)
We finally arrived in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) two nights ago, but our hotel has only had spotty internet so no time to upload a new video.
Tomorrow morning we leave by bus for Phnom Penh, the capitol of Cambodia. The last few days of cycling were good, we had a long push (~100km) to get to the outskirts of Saigon, and then an easier day to get into Saigon proper.
Saigon is pretty neat, but our...

Steamed buns in Buon Ma Thuot
I tried uploading this earlier, but it didn’t work, so here are direct links:

We’re in Buon Ma Thuot, just had a down day, leaving early tomorrow morning. We’ll try to post a new video soon. We’ve had to bus two days in order to cut some distance; the broken fork in Hanoi set us back and our...

Video blog of our bicycle trip from Hanoi, Vietnam, to Chiang Mai, Thailand, via Saigon, Phnom Penh, Siem Riep, and Vientiane.
So… at our friend Dave’s suggestion we are going to try video blogging during our biking trip. This is our first attempt. Aside from having no script, we edited it in Kdenlive… which we’ve never used before… and which doesn’t really...
So our first day of cycling, from Vinh to Ky Anh, is over. We are beat. The day started well and we averaged nearly 20 km/h, but after lunch a strong head wind came on, followed by hail/rain and a flat tire, so we slowed slightly and ended with a day average of 17.4 km/h. Not too shabby, we covered 107.62 km in 6 hours 10 minutes and 46 seconds. Jillian’s cycle computer is...

Flying to Burma (Myanmar) tomorrow morning
So… Jillian and I fly to Burma tomorrow morning. We’ve been hanging out in Bangkok for the past few days (staying for free with Jillian’s AWESOME friends, hurray!) and mooching internet from Jillian’s former residence. We’ve basically been internet bums as both of us have papers to work on (Jillian’s research project is kinda taking shape now; many hiccups...
Good news for us! Burma has visa’s on arrival available since may! Sweet find by Jillian. This saves us a few days in Bangkok applying for a visa.

Just a small post today… I have something longer that I have been working on but it’s not ready to go.
Jill and I have made friends with some more climbers on the island and had a wicked day of climbing yesterday at koh Tao’s secret garden. Amazing rock forms, definitely very cool. The day ended on a sour note though when our friend Chris bailed off the top of a high ball...

Time flies when...
Damn, it’s crazy, but already a month has passed since we arrived on Koh Tao. We considered moving to a new apartment, but the alternatives aren’t any greater (or cheaper).
Days pass slowly here, and the weeks start to blend together. Diving is fun and I’m constantly learning new things with it, but getting the methods in place for J’s research has been tedious and met...

Heyo, finally a chance to upate this thing.
As I said before we are firmly planted on koh Tao, soaking up the sun and diving a lot. We managed to find a room at a monthly rate, so it is about 70 Baht a night each, or $2.30 CAD. Pretty cheap! Our place also has a fridge, so we can store some breakfast food, but most importantly ICECREAM!
The most important thing, that I haven’t mentioned...
